BLURB:

After being injured in a tragic accident as a child, Marietta Edwards has lived a sheltered life. Finally recovered, she wants to indulge in pleasures entirely new to her, beginning with seducing a sexy stranger. It’s her bad luck when she realizes that the man who awakened her body and emotions is none other than Harrison Damon. Their families have been embroiled in a fifteen-year legal battle. The man she’s given herself to is her worst enemy.

The heir to a vast fortune, Harrison believes the unforgettable night he spent with Marietta is just a fling. Then he discovers she’s an Edwards—a woman born of the family he despises most. He shouldn’t see her again, but no matter how he tries, he can’t quench his attraction for her. He doesn’t know what her game is, and he won’t let her seduce him again.

Can two people destined to be enemies find love with each other?

Excerpt:

He couldn’t take her in the back hallway of a nightclub, no matter how tempted he was.

He forced himself to release her and step back, still bracing himself with one hand on the wall.

Her cheeks were deep pink, her hair messy, and her lips swollen. She was the sexiest thing he’d ever seen. “Wow,” she said. “Wow.”

“I agree.”

“Did you want to…” She ducked her head to hide an inexplicably shy expression.

“I hope you were going to ask whether I wanted to continue this elsewhere. Because the answer is definitely yes.”

She raised her eyes, and excitement flickered through her lingering heat. “Really? You don’t have to go back to work?”

He smiled, privately cursing the damned inspection report he still needed to write. He was never late. His responsibilities as a Damon were always his priority.

“Work can wait.” He couldn’t miss out spending the night with this beautiful, passionate woman. The report wasn’t urgent, and he could get up early tomorrow to prepare for the settlement meeting.

She looked surprised when he suggested they go to his hotel, so he wondered if she’d thought he was a local.

It was nice that she had no idea who he was.

While she texted her friend, he ducked back into the main room to grab his tablet and tell the floor manager to release his table.

“By the way, I’m Etta,” she said as they waited for his car.

“Harri—” he began, then cut himself off. She might not recognize his face—not everyone did—but she could easily recognize his name. And that might change things.

“You don’t really look like a Harry, but I like it.”

He’d always hated being called “Harry.” In fact, schoolmates had only used that name when they wanted to annoy him. After hearing Etta say his name with that particular lilt, however, he decided it wasn’t so bad.

She beamed with an overflow of warm excitement.

“What did I do to deserve that smile?”

She flushed and glanced down. “Am I too excited?”

He almost choked. “Too excited? Who the hell told you that was even possible?”

“I don’t know. It’s just that the world seems to think being cool is the way to go, and I can never pull it off.”

He realized that was one of the reasons why she seemed so different, why she seemed so real. There was no pretense about her, and it thrilled him. “Cool is overrated.”

She peered up at him curiously. “You seem to pull it off very well.”

 “Maybe I’m overrated.”

“That remains to be seen.”

Q&A with Noelle Adams, author of Seducing the Enemy

First off, thank you for stopping by The Revolving Bookcase today.

Thank you for having me!

Seducing the Enemy is the first of the Heirs of Damon series, tell us a bit about these books. How many are you planning for the series and when is the next one coming out? Will be they be connected or stand-alones?

There will be four books in the Heirs of Damon series, and the next one, Playing the Playboy, is out November 18. They can each be read as standalones, but they have connected characters. For instance, Gordon, the butler, is in all four books, and Harrison and Marietta show up in Playing the Playboy.

Who is your favorite character from any of your books?

That’s always so hard for me to decide, since I’m attached to all my characters and feel guilty playing favorites! But I just adore Andrew, Harrison’s brother in Seducing the Enemy and the hero of Playing the Playboy. And I also really love Paul from Listed (that was my serial novel from earlier this year). He’s just so incredibly sweet and strong, trying desperately to take care of his dying wife.

If you weren't a writer, what other career do you think you'd have?

I have a full-time job teaching at the college level, and that’s the career I would still have if I could do it again. I’m definitely not cut out for being in an office all day long!

Do you have any writing rituals or superstitions?

I usually light a scented candle when I start writing. It’s not really a superstition—just a habit I started without realizing it. But I don’t really have any rituals, other than the constant struggle to make myself get started. I’m lazy, so I have to lecture myself about getting started every day!

Who is your writing inspiration or favorite author?

I don’t think I can name just one. I learn from almost everything I read, and I’m inspired by books in all kinds of genres. I’m also inspired by movies and television shows. It just takes a story to prompt my imagination, and I spin my own story off from there. I was inspired for one of my favorite stories by a bad sci-fi movie. My favorite authors are the ones who can really create genuinely human characters—no matter who the circumstances.

Is there anything you'd like readers/your fans to know about that we haven't asked?
If you like Christmas stories, I have two coming out this year—one standalone book (Married for Christmas) and one new novella in an anthology/bundle called Love for the Holidays.

Thanks again for stopping by today!

Thanks for the opportunity to answer the questions. I enjoyed visiting!
