Laura's Review:

I haven't read a whole lot of books written in second person point of view. And I think there's a reason for that. To me, in order to pull that off, there has to be a specific reason why the author is choosing that style. Maybe the book is a series of letters, or maybe it's a way to communicate with someone who they'd otherwise not be able to - let's say someone who died or someone who is away overseas. This book didn't fit any of that criteria, although part of me kept waiting for that reason to reveal itself. The second person POV was more than a little distracting and confusing. Which was really too bad because, other than a few misplaced and confusing scenes, I enjoyed the plot of this book. Merrick was not as "alpha" as one might expect in a kidnapping story, but I think that was necessary to allow the reader to like him and forgive him for what he did. Otherwise it might come across too much like Captive in the Dark - another book with a kidnapping, but one that just was not even close to forgivable in my opinion, and nauseated me to read. Overall, this was a quick, enjoyable read which would be even better from a different perspective.

Tanya's Review:
I completely agree with Laura about the second person point of view. I had a very hard time with it and just could not come to really enjoy this book. I did not feel any connection with either Merrick nor Rachel. I did enjoy the back story of the deserted island, the history of it and thought that was romantic and I was hoping as I read more of the book I would come to enjoy it but alas for me it kind of fell flat, never really got a hold of me. It was a quick, just ok read for me.

  1. I like some of the abduction romances. It's interesting to see how the author redeems the kidnapper. Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. I'm not sure I've really read an abduction romance before and it sounds interesting. There's a first time for everything! I love all types of books so I'd love to try one.

  3. I would think that abduction romances are hard to believe, how can you redeem the kidnapper so that the reader is satisfied, a difficult task for the writer. I have yet to read such a romance but have this one on my kindle.

  4. Not sure what to think about them. I have read a few but they were circumstances where the time period was before the 1800's and girl was better off and was abducted to help her from a bad marriage, family life, etc.. I'm not familiar with this author so would give the book a chance. Thanks for the review :)

  5. I don't seek out abduction romances, but I have read a few and enjoyed them. The premise for the story looks like an interesting read, but I'm unfamiliar with this author so I'll be checking with Amazon to check out what else she's written, and to read those reviews in addition to this blogs'.

  6. Most of the ones that I have read are ones where the women have abduction fantasies so they are consensual abductions. I have read a few that were non-consensual and did enjoy them. It really depends on how they are written.

  9. I enjoy some of them. It depends on how the story enfolds. What the victim goes through and so forth. Damaris dsr002(at)gmail(dot)com
